We provide them uncropped in jpeg format. The images are edited for color balance and brightness and they are print ready. These are for those who are capable of performing minor editing and prefer to print their own photographs.Digital Negatives are images on digital media such as a CD and, are provided unedited as a RAW file in Adobe DNG format, but this format is for those who are are experts with Photoshop and post-processing.Custom Prints are visually outstanding, individually edited, retouched, cropped, and optimized images that reflect the vision your photographer saw when they were taken. The Eastcoast Studio will print the image and they are obtained directly from your photographer . OK, we know Photoshop! We want to print our own photos, can we get the digital negatives from you?Yes you can, but we may be able to provide them to you instead of Proof Prints, Digital CD Proofs and Custom Prints.See your photographer for details and make arrangements with us first. Can you tell me more about a Custom Print? What defines your photographer as a professional is their ability to artistically envision your photograph and form a mental image of how your photograph will be presented for maximum impact...even before the shutter is snapped. When your proof is edited by your photographer, adjustments, editing, retouching, enhancements, and more, are applied aso the final print displays a well color balanced and saturated and visually exciting photograph. High quality paper and inks are used, and properly cared for custom prints will last a lifetime and be passed on to generations to come. What is Major Retouching and Minor Retouching?Retouching is not about changing you...it is about changing your photograph. This is because cameras are not nearly as sophisticated as our eyes, and even the best cameras have many limitations. Most importantly, our eyes do not capture a still image. Certain things in photographs may need adjustments to bring out the best aspects of the photo and render them as we would actually visualize them. We don't usually dwell on stray hairs, or a shadow, a bright reflection from a sunlit forehead, or temporary skin blemish...unless it is embedded on a photograph. In short, Major Retouching involves advanced photo editing techniques to remove all distracting elements from a photograph and to bring out the very best elements. Certainly, it is not for every photograph, but sometimes, and for those very special photographs, it can change even a great photograph into an outstanding, high impact, expressive, and nearly three dimensional image. Minor Retouching is similar, but less extensive, however your photographer will still use advanced techniques to bring out the best in your photograph and this is suitable for most photographs.
